Why sell on Qoo10 Singapore?

The e-commerce market in Singapore is huge and only projected to rise over time. In fact, e-commerce sales in Singapore is expected to hit US$10 billion by 2026. Qoo10 is one of the platforms you can use to sell and kick-start your e-commerce business.

For sellers, maintaining timely and easy communication with your customers is important, especially when you need to provide them with product arrival updates or clarifying questions about the product in question. Qoo10 provides their sellers with a chat messaging tool (Live 10) for this purpose, connecting you to your customers for free.

Plus, Qoo10 does not charge sellers listing fees on their marketplace. This puts sellers at an advantage as you can list all your products without worrying about occurring fees, placing it ahead of other platforms.

Convinced yet? Luckily, getting started with selling on Qoo10 does not have to be difficult. We’ve put together a step-by-step guide and tips to help you begin selling successfully on the Qoo10 platform.

How to be a Qoo10 seller

Step 1: Register an account with Qoo10

On the Qoo10 website, click ‘Sign in/Register’ on the top left-hand corner of the page. You’ll be redirected to a log-in page. If you already have an account, sign in. If not, click ‘Seller Register’ to sign up.

At the ‘Seller Register’ page, fill in the necessary information. The four-step process is quite lengthy and will take about 15 minutes.

Some things to take note of:

  • Make sure you use your name as per NRIC or other official documents
  • Click on the verification email link at the ‘Member Confirmation’ step (don’t close your sign up window)
  • Have your phone ready to insert the OTP (one-time password) sent at the ‘Seller Information’ step
  • Provide images of your passport and bank statements to complete registration

As part of the signup process, you will be asked to pay $100 for 10,000 Q·cash as part of the Seller Registration Fee. Q-cash is Qoo10’s virtual currency and is required to purchase advertising solutions on the e-commerce platform.

You should note that cancellations or refunds are not allowed with Q cash. However, buyers can pay and make transactions via various methods including credit card and PayPal on the e-commerce platform.

Step 2: List your products

Once registration is complete, you’re all set to start listing your products on the Qoo10 marketplace. Using the QSM (Qoo10 Sales Manager) tool, manage and list your products through the Qoo10 seller portal. Use the WooCommerce Qoo10 Integration and Magento Qoo10 Integration tools to bulk list products. Do refer to Qoo10’s list of prohibited items before you start selling.

Though it doesn’t cost anything to list and sell items on Qoo10, service fees for payment processing of up to 12% are charged when transactions are completed. See all seller’s fees charged here.

Step 3: Manage shipping and delivery options with QSM

Use the Qoo10 Sales Manager (QSM) tool to stay on top of order tracking and shipping. Once you’ve received a receipt of the payment from a buyer, you are required to kickstart the delivery process within 3 business days from the date of the delivery instruction.

5 tips to increase sales for Qoo10 Singapore sellers

The registration and product listing processes with Qoo10 are relatively simple. Now that you are all set up, here are some tips you can use to become a top Qoo10 seller.

Tip 1: Keep your store updated

You want your page and items to constantly appear at the top of search results. One way to encourage this is to make sure your store is updated.

Some strategies to keep your store updated include:

  • Have up-to-date product descriptions and titles, complete with relevant SEO keywords
  • Constantly add new items
  • Take clear and recent images of your products
  • Make sure available promotions and discounts are offered to relevant major sales periods (e.g. 12/12 sales, Black Friday sales)

All these strategies require a significant time investment but are worth it as they can significantly increase your customer reach when done consistently.

Tip 2: Choose the correct Qoo10 advertising tool

There are a few promotion methods on Qoo10 you can use to offer competitive pricing. Among the most popular are the Time Sale, Sale Price, Group Buy and Daily Deal options. You should make your choice based on what your business goals are. For instance, the ‘Time Sale’ option is best for when you want to drive sales and increase your sales volume.

Tip 3: Have multiple marketing channels

While the bidding system and advertising tools offered by Qoo10 are useful, it is not enough to maintain a high, steady stream of customers. You want to channel potential customers from different platforms to your Qoo10 page. One way to do this is by running ads on social media platforms.

Additionally, look into how you can adopt SEO-marketing strategies so that when people Google for your product, you’ll show up in the first few search engine pages.

Tip 4: Have a separate business account for ad expenditure and shipping

Stretch your marketing budget by searching for cards and business accounts that offer you savings and cashback options. The Aspire Cashback Reward Card gives you 1% cashback on your digital marketing and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) purchases, allowing you to run your online marketing campaigns longer. View the full list of eligible merchants here.

Aspire also has the Aspire Corporate Card, which is great for retailers who import and ship goods from China. The Aspire Corporate card allows you to transact RMB at visa rates to give you a great deal when paying multi-currencies.

Tip 5: Focus on providing a positive consumer experience

One of the most demanding parts of running an e-commerce store is making sure every customer has a positive experience when buying your product. Focus on customer recovery and user journey. What you can do is to offer free shipping and free returns and be prompt with customer queries.

The goal is to build long-term relationships with your customers so they will recommend you to their friends, make repeat purchases and leave positive reviews. This way, you avoid being penalised by Qoo10, increase the chances of purchase and likely bump up your search rankings.
